To be considered for a course at Monash University, you must meet the minimum entry requirements. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee entry to a course, as there may be more applicants than places available.
Many courses have higher entry requirements, prerequisite studies, or extra requirements such as interviews and folios. Check the course entry in Find a Course or CourseSearch (VTAC applicants).
All applicants need to meet:
- English language requirements
- Age requirements (applicants under 17)
- One of the following Australian or overseas qualifications:

Age requirements for admission
At the time of enrolment in a course at Monash University, you must be at least 17 years of age, unless one of these two criteria applies:
1. You will be 16 years of age at the time of enrolling at the university and you have either:
- a VCE ATAR of 95 or higher or equivalent rank in another qualification recognized by Monash
- approval of the Dean of the faculty
2. You will be younger than 16 years of age at the time of enrolment, but you have both:
- a VCE ATAR of 95 or higher or equivalent rank in another qualification recognized by Monash
- approval of the Dean of the faculty
If you do not meet the above criteria, the faculty may offer you a deferred place, which you can take up when you meet the age requirements.
English language requirements
For entry to Monash University, you must meet the minimum English language requirements. You can do this by completing one of the qualifications listed.

If you’ve completed several measures of English proficiency over some time, the highest valid measure will be accepted as long as it’s been taken within the required time limitations.
International students applying for a visa need to satisfy English requirements set by the Department of Home Affairs where these requirements and acceptable English tests differ from Monash University.
