Rhodes University (Afrikaans: Rhodes Universiteit) is a public research university located in Makhanda (Grahamstown) in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It is one of four universities in the province.
Established in 1904, Rhodes University is the province’s oldest university, and it is the sixth oldest South African university in continuous operation, being preceded by the University of the Free State (1904), University of Witwatersrand (1896), University of South Africa (1873) as the University of the Cape of Good Hope,[5] Stellenbosch University (1866) and the University of Cape Town (1829).

STEPS ON HOW TO APPLY ONLINE FOR RHODES UNIVERSITY ADMISSION:
STEP 1 – Apply Online
- Please apply online via the Rhodes University Application Portal if you are enrolling in an Undergraduate OR Postgraduate Program.
- Kindly click on the one that interests you and continue. e.g. Admission (not yet enrolled at Rhodes)
- Then, select the mode of program you are enrolling for. You can select Undergraduate Admission, Honours, Masters or PhD
- Select the year you are applying for and fill in the other required information like your name, date of birth, email address password, etc. Then click ‘Submit Online‘ to proceed.
- An email will then be sent to the email address you registered with. Please click on the activation link provided in that email to activate your login details for the online admissions.
- Kindly enter your username and password to proceed.
- You will then be required to read and consent to Rhodes University’s terms and conditions before you can continue.
- You will then be taken to the page where you will be required to fill in all the necessary information like your Personal Details, Proposed Registration, Previous Studies, Address Details, Residence Application, Person Responsible For Fees (Check the Rhodes University Application Fee and how to Pay Here) and upload the necessary Documents.
- When you are done, kindly click on the ‘Submit‘ button to get your application submitted.
STEP 2 – Acknowledgement of Application
- You will receive an email confirming online submission of your application immediately.
- Within three working days, you should receive formal acknowledgment of your application
- Note this acknowledgement does not mean you’ve been accepted or admitted to Rhodes University.
STEP 3 – Upload Supporting Documents
Please upload the supporting document for your school results captured above. If need be, please merge separate documents into one file. Documents not submitted through the online method can be mailed to:

STEP 4 – Acceptance of Offer
When we update your application, you will receive an email communication. Please monitor your email account closely for updates. You can also check your status online with the log-in credentials that we will send you after you apply. We are not permitted to disclose your application status telephonically.
