NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges.
Access The NSFAS Login
In order to apply to NSFAS, as well as to stay current with the application process, students should set up their own MyNSFAS accounts. Online registration is a simple process. The following steps should be followed:
- Click on MyNSFAS account on the website, www.nsfas.org.za.
- Fill in the appropriate fields with your username and password.
- Select the My Personal Details tab.
- Please enter your most recent email address and cellphone number.
- Continue by clicking Update Your Details.
- Upon entering your email address and cellphone number, you will receive a One-Time-Pin (OTP).
- Enter the OTP in the appropriate field as soon as you receive it, then click Submit.
- Your personal account will display the details you have entered.
Google and Facebook Accounts allow you to log in with your username and password.
Change NSFAS Login Details
You can also change your account details, or NSFAS Applications, if necessary. Here are the steps you need to take to make these changes, whatever the reason may be:
- First, visit the MyNSFAS student portal.
- To log in, input your username, and password, then click on SIGN IN.
- Once you get in, click on My Personal Details.
- All incorrect or outdated information must be deleted and replaced with accurate and up-to-date information.
- You can update your details by clicking the Update Your Details button. Your login details will be saved after this step.
NSFAS Status Check Using ID Number
Using your ID number, you can check your NSFAS status. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Go to the MyNSFAS portal
Visit the MyNSFAS portal at https://my.nsfas.org.za/Account/Login.
Step 2: Log in to your account
Enter your username and password to log in to your MyNSFAS account. Please click “Register” if you do not have an account.
Step 3: Check your NSFAS status
You can view your NSFAS application status after you log in by clicking the “My Application” button. If you have been provisionally funded, fully funded, or not funded, you will be able to see that information.
- Visit the NSFAS website: Open your web browser and go to the official NSFAS website. Make sure you are on the correct website by verifying the URL (https://www.nsfas.org.za).
- Access the My NSFAS portal: Once you are on the NSFAS website, look for the “MyNSFAS” or “Sign In/Register” option. It is usually located in the top right corner of the page. Click on that option to proceed.
- Register as a new user: On the MyNSFAS login page, you will find an option to register as a new user. Click on the “Register” or “Sign Up” button to begin the registration process.
- Provide your details: You will be directed to a registration form where you need to provide your personal information. Fill in the required fields accurately, including your name, South African ID number, contact details, and email address. Make sure the information you enter is correct and matches the details on your ID.
How To Activate My NSFAS Account?
The OTP is required to activate your account. When you receive this OTP, enter it in the corresponding field.
How To Access MyNSFAS Portal?
You can access your myNSFAS portal by following these steps:
- Visit the NSFAS website at www.nsfas.org.za
- Go to MyNsfas Account.
- Please enter your username and password for myNSFAS.
- You can access your account here.
If a funding decision has been made for the bursary scheme, you should be able to see your NSFAS status. Later, you should be able to see your payments. You can either pay your allowance through your mobile wallet or through your institution.
